I've made a dark story about mermaids in the past so this time I wanted to do something happy & fun... a mermaid and a fish girl enjoying their candy & boba tea at the fair!

What is 'MerMay?'
It’s a drawing challenge that the legendary animator Tom Bancroft started on Instagram. It happens in May and artists draw and post mermaid art with the hashtag #MerMay.
Gallery Nucleus and MerMay creator Tom Bancroft are excited to announce the first ever official MerMay art show! _
Featuring more artists than you can shake your tailfins at, this show is sure to be a bubbly delight for all ages. _
Introducing the first Mermaid of the Year enamel MerMay pin, desinged by artist Pernille Orum!
Exclusive art prints as well as other exclusive items will be released!

NOTE: Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, there will not be an opening reception for this show. Instead the show will open online.

Gallery Nucleusで開催されるグループ展「MerMay (マーメイ）」のために描いた作品「At The Fair」です。
MerMayは、アニメーターのTom Bancroft氏がインスタグラム上で始めたチャレンジで、5月に（できれば毎日）アーティストが人魚の絵を描き、#MerMayのハッシュタグと共に投稿するというもので、人魚(mermaid)と5月（May)を組み合わせた造語です。
昔描いた人魚の漫画がかなりダークな感じだったので、今回は楽しい作品にしようと思い、人魚と魚ギャルが、お祭りでりんご飴とタピオカミルクティを楽しんでいる様子を描きました。
